Return a Wallet, Meet Steve Martin

Would you return a lost wallet? What if it belonged to Steve Martin?

Earlier this week, Steve lost his wallet while riding his bike in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — and a good Samaritan returned it.

Steve was in town to play a show with his bluegrass band, The Steep Canyon Rangers. The wallet-finder knew this and contacted the concert venue’s program director, who got the wallet back to Steve. The wallet didn’t have any cash in it, but contained Steve’s driver’s license and credit cards.

Here’s the best part of the story: Steve insisted on thanking the man in person! The dude’s name hasn’t been released. Steve tweeted about the incident:

Steve really beat the odds. According to CNN, only one in five lost wallets are returned to their owners. If you want to protect yourself against a world of mean/lazy people, add a baby photo (it doesn’t have to be your baby), because baby photos make people more likely to get your wallet back to you.

Would you return a lost wallet to a celebrity? I want to say that I would — and it’s not like I’d go on a shopping spree with someone else’s Amex — but Steve Martin’s stuff would make for pretty unique memorabilia.
