Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman and More Play Mumford & Sons in New ‘Hopeless Wanderer’ Video

Mumford & Sons released the new official video for “Hopeless Wanderer” last night — but they’re not in it.

Instead, comedy actors Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, Will Forte and Ed Helms have stepped in to lip sync and play the members of the band.

For the first minute, we don’t see close-ups of their faces, so you might not even notice the change:

But soon it’s clear that those throwback vests and hats aren’t being worn by band members Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane. Instead, our favorite comedy dudes are playing instruments in a boat, crying and more.

“A massive pair of thumbs-up to Sam Jones for directing and his cast of young budding actors,” the band wrote on its Facebook page. “We’re sure they all have bright futures ahead of them.”

How amazing is this video? It appears the band has a healthy sense of humor about itself and its hipster image.

It also reminds me of Jason Sudeikis as the creepy farmer on Portlandia … and the Dream of the 1890s:
