The Awkward Years: Photos of Adults Posing With Their Younger Selves

Adults who used to be awkward teens, rejoice! The Awkward Years Project is here to show you that you weren’t the only one who went through a period of odd proportions and terrible fashion decisions.

This interesting Tumblr features photos of adults holding photographs of themselves during their “awkward years” – the tween and teen period during which almost no one escapes the curse of looking and feeling strange. (Also, most of these people probably grew up in the ’70s and ’80s, a period of time known as the Dark Ages of Fashion.)

The thing that’s cool about the pictures is that they’re mostly not ugly duckling to swan stories – these people didn’t grow up and get plastic surgery or anything. They simply highlight the fact that as they get older, most people grow into themselves. Their features balance, they find their style and they gain confidence. That’s what it means to leave the awkward years behind.
