Powerful Video of 11-Year-Old Nada, Who Fled From Arranged Marriage

The girl in this compelling video is Nada al-Ahdal, and she’s 11 years old. In the video, she talks about her experience escaping her family to avoid being forced into an arranged marriage and she speaks directly to parents who are considering forcing their children into marriage.

“I managed to solve my problem, but some innocent children can’t solve theirs, and they might die, commit suicide or do whatever comes to mind. My mother, my family, believe me when I say: I’m done with you. You’ve ruined my dreams.”

There’s some discussion on Reddit regarding the video’s allegedly biased source (read it here for more info), but the fact remains that arranged marriage involving children does happen, and it’s important to be aware of the issue.
