The Cast of ‘Sixteen Candles’: Where Are They Now?
If you’re a child of the ’80s, you need to brace yourself — I have some distressing news. Next year marks 30 years since Sixteen Candles was released. THIRTY. YEARS.
I can’t believe it’s been three decades since Long Duk Dong first stuck his head over the top bunk and asked, “What’s happenin’, hot stuff?”
Since the Geek flashed Sam’s panties in the boys’ washroom.
Since Ginny overdosed on muscle relaxants on her wedding day.
Since dreamy Jake Ryan kissed Sam over that birthday cake in the ultimate romantic movie ending.
You know how there are some movies you loved as a kid and you watch them again as an adult and they totally suck? Not Sixteen Candles. Like all John Hughes movies, it stands the test of time. Sixteen Candles is just as full of true-to-life teen angst as it was in 1984.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with Sam, Jake and the Geek over on Netflix.
