YouTube’s Powerful Celebration Video for Pride 2013 (VIDEO)

We’re coming to the end of June, which means we’re coming to the end of Pride month. That doesn’t mean the celebrating is over — major Pride events like NYC and Toronto‘s Pride parades are still to come, and the celebration of yesterday’s Supreme Court decision is going strong. There’s plenty going on, but we thought YouTube’s way of marking Pride deserved mention.

Today and tomorrow, YouTube is using its Spotlight Channel — which features trending videos — to highlight LGBT content. They’ve also assembled a tribute video featuring touching moments from videos uploaded on the site set to Macklemore’s “One Love.” Watch it below and have some feelings.

The timing of YouTube’s initiative is pretty good, given yesterday’s historic ruling, but apparently it’s been in the works for a while:

“We had always planned to launch #ProudtoLove to coincide with the gay pride parades and celebrations in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris and other cities around the world during the weekend of June 28 to 30,” a YouTube spokesperson toldĀ Mashable.

“And this week’s U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions make us all the more excited to show our pride of and share our love for the LBGT community on YouTube. Our hope is that people will share the #ProudtoLove video with their loved ones and upload videos about what, why or who they’re proud to love, too.”

Happy Pride, everyone!
