It’s a great day for gay rights!
Today the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a blow to the federal Defense of Marriage Act today, ruling legally married same-sex couples cannot be denied the rights afforded to other married couples.
The court also declined to decide the case of California’s Proposition 8, essentially making gay marriage legal in the country’s most populous state. With this decision, 30 percent of Americans now live in a state that allows gay marriage.
