You know that weird sensation you get when a song you’re listening to builds to a climax, or you gaze at a particularly beautiful sunset or watch a really emotionally intense scene in a movie? It’s a tingly feeling that starts in your head or at the base of your neck and travels up and down your spine and out to your limbs. It might also be accompanied by intense happiness and/or the overwhelming feeling that you’re suddenly going to cry.

That’s a frisson, sometimes known as a “cold chill.”
