Get Ready to Bawl: Kaiser the Police Dog’s Last Walk

Warning: Don’t read this post at work. Seriously. You are about to cry big, sloppy tears whether you like it or not. If you’re in public, turn back now. Look at this cute disabled kitten instead.

OK, are you alone now? Good. Do you have an adequate supply of tissues? OK.

This dog’s name was Kaiser. After two years of faithful service to the Plymouth Police Department, Kaiser developed severe kidney disease. Last week, the police department made the difficult decision to end Kaiser’s suffering.

But not without a touching send off. Here’s a picture of Kaiser’s final walk with his partner, Officer Jamie LeBretton, as the two made their way to the Court Street Animal Hospital. The photo has since gone viral and probably caused enough tears to raise sea level by several inches.

“RIP my boy. I could not have asked for a better partner or friend. May you rest easy and wait for me at that sacred bridge,” said LeBretton on Facebook. “I will be there my friend. I will never forget you or our accomplishments. You made me a better person, a better handler, and a better cop. Till we meet again Kai. I love you and will miss you daily.”
