Cat Born Without Front Leg Bones Walks Around Like a Human (VIDEO)
It’s Friday … and what’s Friday without some adorable cat photos and videos?
Meet Petal, a five-month-old kitten who was born without any bones beyond her front elbows. Petal gets around by using her hind legs, which makes her look like a squirrel or a little furry human being. She’s fittingly called Squitten because of her unique way of moving.
She was brought into Yorkshire Cat Rescue in England and won the hearts of everyone who witnessed her showing off her snazzy gait. Petal’s condition, known as radial hypoplasmia, hasn’t kept her from living a great life.
“Some people think cats who have deformities need to be put down but this isn’t the case, we wanted her have a comfortable and happy life and she now does,” says Sara Atkinson, the founder of Yorkshire Cat Rescue.
Her mother Poppy was brought into the clinic and gave birth to three kittens, but only Petal survived. It was clear from an early age that something was different about Petal. She tried to run around and play but would end up sitting upright. After some X-rays, little Petal was diagnosed with radial hypoplasia, which is caused by inbreeding.
Petal has been adopted by Kerry Bowler who has another cat named Honey with the same condition.
“She is getting on really well and both her and Honey have become firm friends and have regular check ups to monitor them and make sure there are no health complications,” says Bowler.
Little Petal is definitely a survivor! Take some time from your busy schedule to watch this video of Petal and Honey playing together. We promise you won’t be disappointed.
