Having Trouble Texting and Walking? Hire a Seeing Eye Person (VIDEOS)


In a world where just about everyone is glued to one or more electronic devices at pretty much all times, it should come as no surprise that texting and walking-related mishaps are a reality for many people.

Personally, I happen to know someone (who is definitely not me) who once walked directly into a street lamp because she (or he, you know, whatever) was checking Facebook on her phone. I’ve also witnessed plenty of tech distraction-related incidents – everything from your run-of-the-mill tripping on the sidewalk to someone actually walking into traffic. We’re definitely living in a brave new world.

Thankfully, notorious pranksters Improv Everywhere, who you may know from their No Pants Subway Ride and their Frozen Grand Central Station performance art pieces, have introduced a solution to New York’s “texting and walking epidemic”: seeing eye people.

By employing some folks wearing orange vests emblazoned with “I can help you walk and text,” Improv Everywhere managed to help a bunch of New Yorkers successfully navigate the Big Apple while remaining visually attached to their electronics of choice.
