Hilarious ‘Adland Gal’ Video Mocks Women’s Diet Ads (VIDEO)

If we’ve seen one diet ad, we’ve seen them all. There’s never a shortage of ads featuring super happy women prancing around, eating low-fat yogurt and being totally obsessed with their bodies.

Well, at least the cheese spread company Kerry LowLow has a sense of humor about all the diet ad fails. The company has put together a hilarious video mocking all the cliches we see in the lame ads today.

“What is it with food ads aimed at women?” wrote Kerry LowLow on its Facebook page. “Why do they bombard us with cliches? Why do they presume that all women have a negative relationship with food?”

The video features stereotypical female characters, all of whom make regular appearances in diet ads: smug gal, ditzy gal and muffin gal. Because all women fit into these three very strict categories, right? We’re all obsessed with mirrors. We just can’t seem to go one second without tripping over our own feet. We’re constantly stalked by a giant carb monster enticing us to eat, eat, eat.

Don’t forget smaller proportion sizes means you’ll be able to fit into that striped bikini, which will be especially important when you’re giving a crucial presentation at the next board meeting. Plus, life’s all about eating crackers (and nothing else) so you’ll fit into the dreaded skinny jeans.

Excuse me while I frolic on the sandy shores of a beach for no good reason.

Women are exposed to plenty of diet and beauty ads on a daily basis. Some of them, like the Dove Real Beauty Sketches ad, are touching and thought-provoking, while others are just plain bad. This one made us crack a smile or two, so it’s just fine in our books.
