It’s obvious Lindsay Lohan isn’t the most stable of starlets. LiLo is off to rehab (again), but not before she made a public appearance on the David Letterman show.

And it was awkward. Cringeworthy, even.

I’m no LiLo apologist, but I felt legit compassion for her when Letterman steered the conversation to her upcoming rehab stint. Lohan looked stunned.

“We didn’t discuss this in the pre-interview,” she said.

Letterman went on to ask her if she has addiction problems. Hello, did he also just learn that the sky is blue? After giving him a look of death, she reminded him that they’ve talked about this several times. This was Lohan’s fifth visit to the show.

“Now I’m the one having the blackouts,” joked Letterman about his foggy, old-man memory.

Lohan is set to enter rehab on May 2 for a three-month stint. But honestly, do we expect anything different from her these days? Is it likely she’ll change her ways and try living her life like a sane person? Doubtful. Still, we’re rooting for her even if she has the decision-making skills of a toddler hopped up on 1000 Skittles.

Here’s hoping Lohan gets her act together sooner than later, so we can get back to what really matters – like maybe a Parent Trap remake?
