Katie Holmes Reportedly Uses Snail Slime for Her Amazing Skin
Ever wonder how Katie Holmes gets her radiant glow?
Apparently, Katie’s skincare secret is snail slime! According to The Daily Mail, the 34-year-old actress uses face creams containing mucin, an extract from snails.
“A friend recommended she used snail gel and she is really happy with how smooth her skin looks,” a source dished.
Skincare via snail may actually date all the way back to Ancient Greece. Hippocrates reportedly recommended crushed snails as a remedy for inflamed skin. Snail slime gels and creams, which have been popular in Korea and Africa for years, are beginning to pop up in the United States.
Brands like Missha, Dr. Jart+ and Labcconte have incorporated the snail extracts into their products, intended to prevent acne, reduce pigmentation and scarring and combat wrinkles. For example, Missha’s Super Aqua Cell Renewal Snail Cream claims it’s “good for troubled, acne scar, redness, gray, inelastic skin.”
The phrase “snail slime” definitely grosses me out, but if it’s buried in a fancy-looking cream, maybe it’s not so bad. You have to admit that even when the paparazzi catch her without makeup, Holmes’ skin looks amazing.
