New Coke Commercial Leaves a Bad Taste in My Mouth (VIDEO)

Coca-Cola today released its new, much-hyped anti-obesity commercial. It’s a solid two minutes of feel-good … corporate brainwashing. Take a look.

The soft drink company earnestly explains how it has so many (so many!) no calorie and low-calorie drinks. And how it has reduced portion sizes and taken full-sugar soft drinks out of schools. And how it’s even, you know, into recycling.

I suppose that’s all good. But you know what’s even better?

No soft drinks, not even with artificial sweeteners that can cause cancers, bring on seizures or convulsions, worsen diabetes and *cause* weight gain.

No drinks with high-fructose corn syrup, fake colors and chemical additives that rot your stomach, your teeth and your brain.

No sports drinks that can cause even more weight gain than sodas.

No processed fruit juices that are also full of sugar.

No bottled water that is uselessly wasteful and stupidly expensive.

How about that? Maybe I’m being too hard on Coke. I mean, at least the company has acknowledged that it’s part of the obesity problem. But the whole thing just goes down wrong with me.

The stuff Coke sells isn’t good for you. (On occasion, OK, whatever, but most people who drink cola drink it on a regular basis.) No matter how they try to spin that message in their shiny happy commercials, the poison inside the can is still poison.
