PETA Gave Miley Cyrus a Pig for Her Birthday

What do you get the girl who has everything? How about … a pig? It worked for Honey Boo Boo, right?

That’s what the folks at PETA thought when they sponsored a rescue pig named Nora in honor of Miley Cyrus’s 20th birthday (which is today, by the way — happy birthday, Miley). Miley and PETA have been pals for quite some time –the animal rights organization reportedly sent her a gluten-free vegan cookbook earlier this year.

PETA figured a pig would be the perfect birthday gift for the soon-to-be-wed pop star, who frequently speaks up for animal rights and recently mentioned she’d like to adopt a pig.

“PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals,” said Tracy Reiman, PETA’s executive vice president. “From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place.”

Because PETA knows all about making the world a kinder place.
