Did you know that Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger (aka the Nickleback guy) were dating? No? Don’t feel bad; neither did anyone else. Allegedly, the relationship has been going on since February, when the two teamed up to co-write a song for Avril’s upcoming album.

A romance blossomed, one thing led to another, and well, now they’re getting married. After six months of dating. Because that’s always a good idea.

The two actually do seem to have a lot in common, however: they both have hard-to-pronounce surnames, make bad music, and uh… have blonde hair?

Kroeger allegedly proposed to his pop-punk princess (I didn’t make that up; that’s what the media has been calling her forever) with a 14-carat diamond ring. A rep for Lavigne has since confirmed the proposal, and Nickelback’s website is currently emblazoned with ‘Congrats Chad and Avril!’.

37-year-old Kroeger has never been wed, though he did have a 7-year common-law partnership which he is currently in the process of dismantling. This will be 27-year-old Avril’s second marriage. Her first was to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley (a match made in pop-punk Heaven, we thought), but the two separated in 2009.

Media outlets are now calling ‘Chavril’ a Canadian rock super-couple, much to the polite embarrassment of Canadians everywhere.
