Kristen Stewart Not in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Sequel?

When the news that Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with married director Rupert Sanders broke, many wondered whether her career would suffer. Well, it seems we have an answer now, and that answer appears to be yes.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the original plan for the Snow White and the Huntsman franchise was to make two movies focusing on Snow White and a third spinoff that stars the Huntsman (aka Chris Hemsworth). Now, it seems that the second movie has been scrapped, and Universal Studios is simply fast-forwarding on to the third.

Despite some misleading headlines, Stewart hasn’t technically been ‘dropped’ from the sequel, as she was never officially attached to it. The actress has openly stated in the past that she was never contractually obligated to do a sequel for the film, although it did seem likely given Snow White and the Huntsman’s box office success.

So far it is unclear as to whether philandering director Rupert Sanders will at the helm of the next instalment. A source for the Hollywood Reporter says that it’s definitely a possibility.

While all of this is speculative at this time, one thing has been confirmed. E! News (which is affiliated with Universal Studios through the NBCUniversal parent company) has confirmed that screenwriter David Koepp is no longer working on a second film for the franchise.

“We are exploring options to continue the franchise and no decisions have been made,” said a Universal Studios spokesperson.
