Kelly Clarkson Loses 30 Pounds – How Did She Do It? And Why?
Recently, Kelly Clarkson has been in the headlines for her 30 pound weight loss. The past American Idol winner, now Duets judge, wowed onlookers with her appearance at last month’s Billboard Music Awards. She appeared in a plunging multicolored dress and a tiny black belt that accentuated her slimmed-down frame.
The question is, How did the singer, who’s known for her fluctuating waistline, slim down? And why?
According to US Weekly, Kelly’s decided to lose weight for a guy… She’s currently dating Brandon Blackstock, and sources say that “Brandon is the first guy who ever told her how beautiful and sexy she is. She wants to look good for him.”
Hmm, that doesn’t really sound like Kelly to me. Not that we’re besties or anything, but the singer has never been shy about dealing with weight issues, and I don’t see a new beau being the all-encompassing reason.
Another source says that Kelly saw herself on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul, and was unhappy with her weight. Her weight loss may be for the many appearances that she’ll have to make as Duets judge.
According to Redbook, Kelly has no desire to shed too much weight. “Really, what I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy,” she says. “I have no desire to be super-skinny.”
The two-time Grammy winner says that she’s on a five-days-a-week training schedule that focuses on cardio and strength training using her own body weight. “I don’t like free weights, because I build muscle easily.”
Not only is Kelly happy with her new bod, she’s also elated with her beau. “Where’s the kick in the ass? I told my assistant that today,” she says. “I said, ‘I’m just waiting for something to blow up.’ She said, ‘No, that’s what happiness is.’ I’m like, maybe I’ve never been happy! Because Brandon does – he makes me happy.”
