Mark Zuckerberg Changes Relationship Status to ‘Married’

Facebook’s founder and chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, changed his relationship status to ‘married’ over the weekend. The 28-year-old billionaire married his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, at a small ceremony in the backyard of their Palo Alto home. The two had been together since their college years at Harvard.

According to friends of the couple, the two had been planning the wedding for months, but had kept the entire thing completely under wraps. They invited 100 guests to what Zuckerberg told them was a surprise party for Chan, who just graduated from medical school. However, once the guests arrived, they learned that they had actually been invited to a wedding.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong sang at the reception, and the event was catered by Palo Alto Sol and Fuki Sushi, two of the newlyweds’ favorite restaurants. That day, Zuckerberg updated his Facebook profile to say ‘Married Priscilla Chan’. The update received nearly 850,000 ‘likes’ by Sunday evening.

The marriage of Zuckerberg and Chan came just one day after Facebook went public. Many people are speculating about the specific timing of the wedding, wondering if it was some sort of business move, or possibly a way to ensure that Priscilla wouldn’t receive half of Mark’s Facebook money should the couple divorce. As for us, well, we’re just happy for the newly married couple.

Congratulations, you two!
