N.J. Mom Denies Letting 5-Year-Old Daughter Use Tanning Bed (VIDEO)

Most parents who think their kids are looking a little pasty send them outside to play for an afternoon. One New Jersey mother, however, is accused of letting her 5-year-old daughter hop in a tanning bed.

Patricia Krentcil, who sort of looks like a female version of Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, has been charged by Essex County authorities with second-degree child endangerment after her daughter, Anna, claimed that a bad sunburn she had was the result of tanning with her mother. Krentcil, who is (obviously) heavily tanned herself, denies any wrongdoing.

“I never once in my life let my daughter, especially at that age, go into a tanning booth,” Krentcil stated. She goes on to give herself a glowing review, adding, “I’m a wonderful mother.”

The mother claims that her daughter received the burns from playing outside, and that although the child tagged along with her on a trip to the tanning salon, she did not enter a tanning booth herself. Her attorney, John Caruso, states:

“We’re confident when all the facts are heard in this case, she’ll be vindicated.”

Krentcil was released from custody earlier this week after posting $25,000 bail. She is scheduled to go on trial on June 4th.
