X-Files Star Gillian Anderson Dishes On Lesbian Experiences

She’ll probably always be best known as Agent Scully on the sci-fi smash hit series The X Files. On the show, the character portrayed by Gillian Anderson was calm, cool and highly analytical.

In real life, Anderson is much more wild. Or, at least, she used to be.

In a recent interview with Out magazine, Anderson revealed some secrets that she has held since her teenage years. She spoke of rebellious behavior, including a few lesbian love affairs.

Anderson revealed that she is primarily attracted to men and never considered herself to be “100 percent gay,” but she has experimented with women in the past. “I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school,” the actress revealed.

Anderson said that her lesbian experiences took place at a time in her life when she was experiencing significant upheaval. She had moved from the United Kingdom to the United States–Grand Rapids, Michigan, specifically.

She said that her new home was far more uptight than she expected, so she acted out in a way that was intended to shock people.

Anderson revealed that she is primarily interested in men these days, but that she still experiments with women from time to time.
