Osama bin Laden Dead: Head of al Qaeda Terrorist Team Killed!

Celebrations are taking place all over the US and Canada this morning after it was officially announced last night that Osama bin Laden – the head of the terrorist team responsible for the 9/11 attacks – is dead.

“His death does not mark the end of our effort,” says President Barack Obama in a statement released last night. “There’s no doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must and we will remain vigilant.”

In regards to the death itself, Obama claims that “justice has been done.”

bin Laden, 54 years old, was killed in a mansion in Pakistan and the President was quick to assure the public that “No Americans were harmed” in the events taking place to kill the leader.

Obama also confirmed that he personally ordered that the operation be carried out:

“Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan,” Obama said. “A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.”

Celebrations at memorial sites such as Ground Zero, have been taking place throughout the night.
